50x100 Metal Building Cost & Specs

5,000 square feet of clear-span space. Warehouse, distribution and light industrial territory — and the size where getting the eave height and slab specification right matters most.

Shell includes

Engineered foundation, the pre-engineered steel frame and panels, erection, and a standard roll-up door. Shell is the scope those bargain “steel building from $25,000” adverts are quoting — steel delivered and stood up, and nothing else.

Turnkey adds

Insulation, interior framing, electrical rough-in, HVAC where specified, overhead and walk doors, permits, and finish-out. A building you can actually use on handover.

Pricing basis: completed UTS BuildPros projects across DFW and North Texas, 2025–2026. Updated August 2026.

Worth thinking about

Eave height drives more of the value here than square footage. At 16 feet you get one level of racking; at 20–24 you get two or three, effectively multiplying storage without enlarging the footprint. Racking capacity is usually worth more than extra floor area at this size.

Eave heights

16 ft · 18 ft · 20 ft · 24 ft

Eave height costs little at build time and cannot be changed afterwards.

Typical doors

Typically two to four 14x16 overhead doors, often with at least one dock-height position. Drive-through at 100 feet of length is genuinely practical for trailer loading.

Slab & foundation

6-inch slab at 4,000 psi with reinforcement, thickened under racking lines and in traffic lanes. Forklift use makes joint layout and control-joint placement a real design decision rather than a detail.
